‘Talking Trees’: An evening of arboreal storytelling
Sunday October 30, 2016 @ 7:00 pm
Organised by the Brockley Society’s Tree Committee in conjunction with 57 Arts, join us for an informal fund-raising evening of tree appreciation and tree-related storytelling in the relaxed surroundings of the fabulous Number 57 at the top of Loampit Hill (57 Loampit Hill, SE13 7SZ; opposite ‘Aladdin’s Cave’ – see map below).
The evening will follow the ‘Spark’ storytelling guidelines; contributions should be limited to around 5 minutes duration, should be delivered without notes, and must be your own (as opposed to a reading/recital). They can include anecdotes, stories, poems, the story behind a piece of art; whatever inspires you! It’s not compulsory to contribute in any way, but given we all have a lifelong relationship with trees, we very much hope you will…
Tickets cost £15 each, which includes a selection of pintxos (Basque tapas) and a glass of wine provided by the in-house L’Oculto Wine Tapas Shop. All proceeds from the event will go towards the Tree Committee’s funds to help them continue their important and award-winning work in the area.
Poet Bill Greenwell will be taking part, and ‘Talking Trees’, a tree-themed set of art works by Isobel Kimberley, will be on display and for sale during the event. Isobel has kindly agreed to donate a percentage of any sales from the show to the Tree Committee’s fund.
Book tickets on the event page on the 57 Arts website here.
We look forward to seeing you there!
