Join us for a relaxed and informal evening to find out more about what Brockley Society does.
Enjoy some free light refreshments while you consider whether any of Brockley Society’s activities might be of interest to you. Bring your own ideas!
- Our biggest event this year was the 46th annual Hilly Fields Midsummer Fayre
- Conservation and enhancement of the unique Victorian architecture in and around the Brockley Conservation Area and the related planning issues are a fundamental part of what we do
- We run guided historical walks; we hold archives of Brockley’s houses and people; we have an oral history project, Brockley Voices
- We own four old red phone boxes in the local area and run them as community resources.
- We have an extensive website
- We produce a widely-distributed printed newsletter plus a circular email, Twitter and Instagram
- Do you like meetings on fascinating subjects or events that enrich our community? Collaborating with other local groups? Interested in Breakspears Mews Community Garden or other green spaces?
- Lewisham Borough of Culture 2022 — ideas so far: a Brockley literary festival, a carnival procession at the 2022 Hilly Fields Fayre; celebrate the first Anglo-Caribbean Social Club in Breakspears Road; recreate the 2015 mass photo on HIlly Fields; specific history projects; a rounders tournament on Hilly Fields … bring your suggestions
- Brockley Society is a registered charity. You may wish to join our management committee. We are urgently looking to recruit a secretary.
- Any other suggestions for Brockley Society?
If possible, please let us know (drop us an email to chair[AT]brockleysociety.org.uk.) if you plan to come along, so that we can plan numbers for refreshments. But it’ll be fine to just turn up!
We hope to see you there!
